As the only full-time employee at the studio, I was responsible for scanning and retouching 35mm slides from Jim’s photo shoots. After editing and retouching the photos, I would transfer the finished images via FTP to magazines and advertising agencies. My responsibilities also included organizing the studio and working with vendors. I have retouched images for magazine covers of celebrities such as Charlize Theron and Alicia Silverstone.

Digital Imaging of Southern California (DISC)

1997 – 1999 // Woodland Hills

I began as a prepress operator. My responsibilities included operating the Raster Image Processor and outputting film to make the plates for the printing presses. From that job, I migrated into the graphic design department, where I was part of a team that output package designs, flyers, etc for clients such a Price Pfister and Nestlé. During my employment at DISC, I began my first work in web development, which included an Intranet for Southern California Edison.

Market Products Printing

1995 – 1997  // Simi Valley

I was responsible for designing and preparing customer print jobs for Ryobi and A.B. Dick printing presses. I supervised all aspects of the prepress department at Market Products. My responsibilities included generating the color separations by sending print jobs to our Raster Image Processor (RIP). This included up to 6 color jobs (CMYK + 2 additional spot colors or spot UV / varnish). I set trapping and checked registration on the film output (this was before straight-to-plate). I communicated directly with our customers, gathering their digital assets for print jobs on both Mac and PC.
